Jada isn’t stopping here, she is thinking about pursuing sciences at the University of the West Indies and hopes to take on a leadership role at Ecosystem Approach in the future. Here is what Jada has to say.
Tell us, how did your passion for mangrove conservation begin?
I have always loved the outdoors, but the real passion began after my first trip to the Caroni Swamp in Felicity with my parents. I was amazed by the mangrove trees, the crabs and birds. Since then, my father has taken me many more times and I’ve realized that in order for me to keep enjoying this place, I need to know how to keep it from disappearing.
How did you find out about the Guardians Of The Coastline volunteer program?
I found out about the program from my Mum. She also volunteers with EA and she thought it would be a great idea for us to do this together.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
I see myself as a successful scientist doing things for my community and my country. I want to make my mark in the world by doing my very best.
